History

Windmill "De Windhond" is a round stone mill and is an historical and valuable feature for the city of Woerden.

The mill stands on one of the last pieces of city wall, originally part of a bastion belonging to the city walls of old Woerden. De Windhond has a flight of 25.2 meters. The interior of the mill is largely in authentic condition.

The mill doesn't work on full production. The flour made at the mill is used at various points of sale. In addition, a number of bakers in Woerden sell bread with flour from the mill.

The miller Karel Dolman lives in the house at the bottom of the mill. He divides his time between his job as a mill repairman and working at De Windhond.
